I had hesitated to put out my articles on the web since I did lose one well paying job because of my former young-earth creationist views. I have finally decided that if someone wants to get me for former stupidities, so be it. I have organized these in most recent first going back to the past. On the CRSQ articles, I have made several comments so that one can know where I stand in relation to a given article today. My oldest article, is the one I like the best and will still stand by the conclusion it presents that the proposed vapor canopy would create a temperature profile that would be too hot for life to exist.

Oil Fields in which I have been part of the discovery team (34)

Today, no one finds oil all by themselves. This has  been the case probably since the 1930s, if it was even true then. Here are the fields I have been involved in finding. In the Gulf and North Sea, I was manager of Geophysics and thus had a bigger role in saying what got drilled and impacted the analysis which was done on the projects. Other individuals actually generated the ideas. In onshore Texas and Louisiana, I generated the ideas.

Gulf of Mexico,1991-2000: Conger, Boomvang, Nansen, Penn State, Penn State Deep, Hi A 576, Gunnison, Durango, Red Hawke, GB 140/184, GB 152, HI A 553 deep, Merganser, Pompano Subsalt, Horseshoe, Navaho, and Baldpate appraisal..

North Sea 2000-2003: Tullich, South Gryphon, Bluesky, Deep South 2, Deep South  3, Affleck, Plada, James, Dumbarton

China: CFD 22-2-1

Onshore Texas 1986-1991: North Carmine, Mickey Meadows, Cesare, Baby S., Namken, and  Banana Peel,

Louisiana 1987: Valentine Dome deeper pool Wildcat

Prieto, Corine, and Morton, Glenn, (2003), "New Insights from a 3D Earth Model: Deep Water Region of Gulf of Mexico," The Leading Edge, 22(2003):4, p. 356-360
This article discusses a seismic, gravity and magnetic study which show that the Gulf of Mexico, when it formed, was a basin and range style province with huge throws across faults in a horst and graben terrane.  The salt was evaporated in the grabens with the horsts bare of salt.  Then there was an inversion of structure with the horst becoming today's basin and the salt-filled grabens becoming the topographic highs due to salt movement.

Summary: Suggested that viscous flow in the basalts would wipe out craters in a brief time. This view is erroneous in that it ignores the extreme temperature dependence of viscosity on temperature. At lunar temperatures, the viscosity would be such that a lunar crater could stand for billions of years. Furthermore, if the concepts utilized in this article were true (i.e. that glass could flow) astronomers would have to re-grind their lenses and mirrors every few years. This doesn't happen. This argument was used in Paul Ackerman's book, It's a Young World After All (Baker, 1986), p. 52-53. It is an erroneous argument that I wish I had never come up with.

Summary: This is a critique of Barry Setterfield's suggestion that the speed of light had decreased. If his formulation of the changes were true, then there should have been 417 days per year at the time of Christ and the earth would have been melted when God created Adam due to the tremendous heat generated by the extremely rapid radioactive decay during the creation week.

Summary: An attempt to use S.W. Carey's suggestion of an expanding earth (The Expanding Earth, Elsevier, 1976). I will no longer support the ideas in this paper. Earth expansion while viable in the early 1980s has been totally disproven by Very Long Range Interferometry which actually measures the movements of the continents. Such measured movement is incompatible with earth expansion.

There is more sedimentary thickness on top of the continents than in the ocean basins. I will no longer support the suggested solution, earth expansion even though it does predict the rough sedimentary distribution observed.

Morton, G. R. (1980). The Warm Earth Fallacy. Creation Research Society Quarterly. 17:40-41.

Summary: This article criticizes the creationist use of fossils as indicating the preflood temperature of places like Alaska. Assuming a global flood, the carcasses could float around the world, meaning that the place they were buried has no relation to the site at which they lived. Thus the burial of palms in Alaska my only represent where they were buried not the temperature of Alaska in a preflood world. I will stand by this article.

Morton, G. R. (1979). Can the Canopy Hold Water? Creation Research Society Quarterly. 16:164-169.

Summary: My first and best paper. Anytime a paper is being cited 20 years after it's publication, you know it is a significant paper. It was the second published young-earth creationist attempt to calculate the surface temperature of the earth under a water vapor canopy. All the calculations were performed on a four-function Rockwell calculator. The temperature would have been more than 500 degrees F for any reasonable canopy size. This means that the canopy would have cooked all the preflood people. See
